Stream Deck Plugins Explained

Understand the difference between the MuteDeck Stream Deck plugins and which one to use.

Overview

There are multiple MuteDeck plugins available in the Elgato Stream Deck Marketplace:

  • MuteDeck: the main plugin with full access to all meeting controls and actions
  • MuteDeck for Zoom: a starter pack with pre-configured Zoom-specific actions
  • MuteDeck for Teams: a starter pack with pre-configured Teams-specific actions

All three plugins work with the same MuteDeck application. The Zoom and Teams starter packs are convenience plugins that make it faster to set up actions for those specific meeting apps.

The Main MuteDeck Plugin

The main MuteDeck plugin gives you access to core meeting controls like mute, video, screen share, record, and leave meeting. It also includes an Other Action button that lets you trigger any other action you've configured in MuteDeck.

With the Other Action button, you can access every action available in the Zoom and Teams starter packs, and more. The process is:

  1. Drag the Other Action button to your Stream Deck canvas
  2. Select the action you want it to perform from the dropdown
  3. Optionally set a custom icon for the button

This gives you full flexibility, but requires a bit more setup per button.

Starter Packs: MuteDeck for Zoom & Teams

The starter packs for Zoom and Teams provide dedicated buttons for app-specific actions like reactions, hand raise, and other features unique to those meeting apps. Each button comes with:

  • A pre-configured action — just drag and drop, no need to select which action it should perform
  • A custom icon that matches the action — no need to find or set your own icon
  • A descriptive label so you know exactly what the button does

For example, instead of dragging an Other Action button, selecting "Zoom Raise Hand" from a dropdown, and finding a hand-raise icon, you can simply drag the Raise Hand button from the MuteDeck for Zoom plugin directly onto your Stream Deck.

Which Plugin Should I Use?

You don't have to choose just one; you can install all three and use them together on the same Stream Deck profile.

  • Install the main MuteDeck plugin for core meeting controls (mute, video, share, record, leave). This is required regardless of which starter packs you use.
  • Add the Zoom starter pack if you frequently use Zoom and want quick access to Zoom-specific actions like reactions.
  • Add the Teams starter pack if you frequently use Microsoft Teams and want quick access to Teams-specific actions.

If you only use one meeting app, the relevant starter pack can save you setup time. If you prefer full control and don't mind the extra configuration, the main plugin's Other Action button can do everything the starter packs offer.
