Meeting Controls

Learn how to use MuteDeck's core meeting control features.

Overview

MuteDeck provides unified control over your video meetings regardless of which platform you're using. The controls work consistently across Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and other supported applications.

Main Controls

Mute/Unmute

  • Function: Toggle your microphone on/off
  • Fallback: Uses system microphone when meeting app isn't detected

Video

  • Function: Turn your camera on/off
  • Support: Available in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and all other apps that have recording capabilities

Share

  • Function: Start/stop sharing your screen
  • Note: Some apps may show screen selection dialog

Record

  • Function: Start/stop meeting recording
  • Permissions: May require host permissions in some apps

Leave Meeting

  • Function: End your participation in the meeting
  • Behavior: Leaves meeting immediately when pressed
  • Confirmation: No confirmation dialog - use carefully

Custom Actions

  • Function: Create custom keyboard shortcuts for any meeting app feature
  • Behavior: Can be used for actions like hand raising, chat toggling, etc.
  • Setup: Configure in MuteDeck settings

Using the Controls

MuteDeck Interface

  1. Open MuteDeck from your system tray/menu bar
  2. Meeting status appears when a call is detected
  3. Click buttons directly in the MuteDeck interface

External Devices

  • Stream Deck: Press configured buttons for instant control
  • Loupedeck: Touch or press assigned controls
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Use configured hotkeys from any app

Status Indicators

Meeting Detection

  • "Active Call Detected": MuteDeck recognizes your meeting app
  • "No Call Detected": Using system-level microphone control
  • App Name: Shows which app is being controlled (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Button States

  • Green/Active: Feature is currently on/enabled
  • Red/Inactive: Feature is currently off/disabled
  • Gray/Disabled: Feature not available (no meeting or app limitation)

App-Specific Features

Zoom

  • ✅ All controls supported
  • ✅ Multiple languages supported
  • ✅ Advanced features (reactions, chat)

Microsoft Teams

  • ✅ Full control with API integration
  • ✅ Hand raising (via custom actions)
  • ⚠️ Multiple third-party apps may conflict and cause issues inside Teams

Google Meet

  • ✅ All basic controls via browser extension
  • ✅ All languages supported
  • ✅ Captions toggle (via custom actions)

Webex

  • ⚠️ Limited support
  • ⚠️ English only
  • ⚠️ May not work consistently

Troubleshooting Controls

Controls Not Responding

  1. Check meeting detection: Ensure MuteDeck shows "Active Call Detected"
  2. Verify app language: Switch to English for better compatibility
  3. Enable meeting controls: Turn on "Always show meeting controls" in your meeting app
  4. Restart device apps: Close and reopen the Stream Deck or Loupedeck software
  5. Restart MuteDeck: Close and reopen the MuteDeck application

Wrong App Detected

  • Multiple apps open: Close unused meeting applications
  • Browser vs desktop: Ensure you're using the correct version
  • App switching: MuteDeck detects the most recent active meeting app

Advanced Features

Custom Actions

Create custom keyboard shortcuts for any meeting app feature:

  1. Open Settings → Custom Actions
  2. Add New Action for your meeting app
  3. Configure keyboard shortcut (e.g., Ctrl+H for hand raising)
  4. Use in Stream Deck or other devices, more details in Custom Actions Guide

Tips for Best Performance

  1. Keep meeting controls visible: Enable "Always show meeting controls"
  2. Use English language: For maximum compatibility
  3. Close unused apps: Avoid multiple meeting apps running simultaneously
  4. Update regularly: Keep MuteDeck and meeting apps updated
  5. Check permissions: Ensure MuteDeck has necessary system permissions
