Run Apps When Meetings Start and End

From MuteDeck v4.13, Settings → Integrations can start notes, timers, focus sessions, and automations when MuteDeck detects a meeting starting or ending.

Enable an App Integration

  1. Install and set up the app you want to use on the same computer as MuteDeck.
  2. Open Settings → Integrations in MuteDeck.
  3. Under Your apps, turn on the app's switch.
  4. Fill in any fields that appear, such as a shortcut name or vault name.
  5. Click Test, or Test start and Test end, to try the integration without joining a meeting.

The test performs the actual action: it can create a note, start a timer, or run your automation. Tests use Zoom as the sample meeting app. Settings are saved automatically.

MuteDeck shows switches for apps it detects as installed. Other supported apps appear in the Also works with … once installed list. If an installed app is missing, open it once to finish setup, then reopen MuteDeck's settings.

Available Integrations

AppPlatformWhat it doesWhat to enter
GranolamacOS and WindowsStarts a new note and transcription. MuteDeck does not send an end action. No fields required.
Apple ShortcutsmacOSRuns a shortcut at the start and end. Passes the meeting app's name as text input.Shortcut at start and Shortcut at end: names of your shortcuts.
Raycast FocusmacOSStarts a Focus session using your default Focus settings and completes it when the meeting ends.No fields required.
ObsidianmacOS and WindowsCreates a note named after the date, time, and meeting app.Vault: your vault's name.
TimingmacOSStarts a timer for the meeting and stops it at the end. Requires the Timing Expert plan.No fields required.
HubstaffmacOS and WindowsTracks meeting time on a project.Project ID: the project's numeric ID.
Keyboard MaestromacOSRuns a macro at the start and end. The meeting app's name is available as %TriggerValue%.Macro at start and Macro at end: macro names.
BetterTouchToolmacOSRuns a named trigger at the start and end. Passes the meeting app's name in meeting_app.Trigger at start and Trigger at end: named triggers.
BunchmacOSOpens a Bunch when the meeting starts and closes it when the meeting ends.Bunch: the Bunch's name.

For separate start and end fields, you can leave one blank to skip that action. Granola and Obsidian only have a start action.

For another app with a URL scheme, or a web page you want to open:

  1. In Settings → Integrations, turn on Open my own link.
  2. Enter a link in At start, At end, or both. Leave a field blank to do nothing at that point.
  3. Click Test start or Test end to check it.

Use a link supported by the destination app. MuteDeck replaces these placeholders and URL-encodes their values:

PlaceholderValueExample
{app}Meeting app's nameMicrosoft Teams
{date}Local date when the action runs, in YYYY-MM-DD format2026-10-29
{time}Local time when the action runs, in HH.mm format09.30

For example, to run an Apple Shortcut named Meeting started with the meeting app as input:

shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=Meeting%20started&input=text&text={app}

The shortcut must already exist. A red outline indicates that the link's format is invalid. Opening a link does not send a JSON status update; use a webhook for that.

MeetingDebrief

MeetingDebrief (more info here) is also configured in Settings → Integrations. It can start recording when a meeting starts and stop when it ends.

  1. Open MeetingDebrief and copy its token from Settings → API.
  2. In MuteDeck, turn on Enable MeetingDebrief.
  3. Paste the token into API Token. Keep Host and Port at their defaults unless your MeetingDebrief setup uses different values.

Use the token from MeetingDebrief here, rather than a token created in MuteDeck's Plugins & API section.

If an Integration Does Not Run

  • Check that MuteDeck detects your meeting. Integrations respond to meeting starts and ends, not individual mute or camera changes.
  • Use the test buttons to check the destination app and any names or IDs you entered.
  • For shortcuts, macros, and named triggers, confirm the name matches the one in the destination app.
  • If an end action is delayed, check Settings → General → Wait before reporting a call ended. This lets MuteDeck ignore brief gaps in meeting detection.

Other Meeting Integrations

Plenom Busylights, webhooks, and Home Assistant through webhooks are configured in Integrations too. In versions before v4.13, Busylights, webhooks, and MeetingDebrief were in Notifications.
