Re-authorizing MuteDeck in macOS Accessibility Settings

After certain macOS or MuteDeck updates, you may need to re-authorize the app in your macOS Accessibility settings. This is a one-time process that takes about 30 seconds.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Open System Settings

Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of your screen and select System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).

Step 2: Navigate to Accessibility settings

  1. Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar
  2. Click Accessibility in the list on the right

Step 3: Remove MuteDeck from the list

  1. Find MuteDeck in the list of apps
  2. Select it by clicking on it
  3. Click the minus button (−) at the bottom of the list to remove it

Note: You may need to click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes.

Step 4: Quit MuteDeck

If MuteDeck is running, quit it completely:

  • Right-click the MuteDeck icon in your menu bar
  • Select Quit MuteDeck

Step 5: Relaunch MuteDeck

Open MuteDeck from your Applications folder or Launchpad.

Step 6: Grant permissions

When MuteDeck launches, it will prompt you to grant Accessibility permissions. Click Open System Settings when prompted, then toggle MuteDeck on in the Accessibility list.

Troubleshooting

MuteDeck doesn't appear in the Accessibility list after relaunching

Try launching MuteDeck again. The permission prompt should appear automatically. If it doesn't, you can manually add MuteDeck by clicking the plus button (+) in the Accessibility settings and selecting MuteDeck from your Applications folder.

I granted permissions but MuteDeck still can't control my meetings

  1. Make sure the toggle next to MuteDeck is switched on (not just present in the list)
  2. Try quitting and relaunching MuteDeck one more time
  3. If the issue persists, restart your Mac

I'm on an older version of macOS

On macOS Monterey and earlier, the path is: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Accessibility
