MuteDeck v4.12
MuteDeck v4.12 works with more meetings in your browser: Zoho Meeting, GoTo Meeting and Webex in the browser are now supported. 😊 Teams controls are more dependable, especially on macOS, MuteDeck uses a lot less CPU while Teams is open, and updates install more reliably.
More Meetings in Your Browser & All Languages
The MuteDeck browser extension now works with Zoho Meeting, GoTo Meeting and Webex in the browser. Browser Webex meetings get the Webex icon and your Webex custom actions, instead of showing up as a generic browser meeting.
All meetings in the browser now work in all languages. Previously, MuteDeck only recognized some languages with a few apps, but now it works with any language that the meeting app supports.
You'll need version 7.0.0 of the browser extension for these updates which was published today. Chrome-based and Firefox-based browsers will update automatically, Safari is still waiting for Apple to approve the new version.
Teams on macOS: Back to the Front
In 4.11 I was pretty excited to control Teams on macOS in the background, without bringing the meeting window forward. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake. With some macOS and Teams versions, Teams accepted the mute press but didn't actually update while it was in the background. For most of you, MuteDeck and Teams then disagreed about whether you were muted, and the buttons stopped working for the rest of the meeting.
That's down to how Teams is built, and there's no reliable way around it from the outside. So MuteDeck on macOS is back to the old behavior: it brings Teams to the front, presses the button, and then puts you back in the app you were using. You'll see Teams flash by briefly, but the mute state stays in sync. Sorry for the back-and-forth!
Teams Buttons That Keep Working
A chat message, video tile or shared screen that Teams stopped responding for could block every button for the rest of the meeting. Now only the meeting controls themselves matter, which also makes presses quicker.
Less CPU While Teams Is Open
With Teams open, MuteDeck could sit at 1–2% CPU all day, even without a call. It now skips work when nothing in Teams has changed, and on macOS no longer checks every running app each second. Meeting detection is just as quick as before.
Updates That Install Reliably
- Update loop (Windows): If the quick update failed, MuteDeck tried it again on every start. It now switches to the full installer.
- Updates on macOS: The updater now starts in a way that lets macOS ask for permission to replace MuteDeck, and checks it can write there before downloading.
- Restarting after an update: The updater waits for MuteDeck to fully close first, so the new version starts properly.
- No silent failures: If the updater doesn't start, MuteDeck stays open and uses the full installer. Any errors show up in the logs you send with a bug report.
Other Improvements
- Test your webhook: New Test Webhook button in Settings → Notifications. Pick a meeting state, preview the message and send it, without joining a call.
- Menu bar crash (macOS 27): Clicking the menu bar icon no longer crashes MuteDeck on the beta version of macOS 27.
- Zoom camera (macOS): Turning on your camera no longer makes MuteDeck lose track of your call for a few seconds.
- Cleaner logs and bug reports: No more repeated status lines every second, and bug reports now include the updater's log.
