v7.1.0 of the Browser Extension

New Improved

There's a new version of the browser extension! Chrome-based and Firefox should be available today, Safari is still in review by Apple.

New platforms

  • Microsoft Teams (personal): the free, personal version of Teams on teams.live.com is now supported, with the same controls as Teams for work or school: mute, camera, screen sharing, reactions (👍 💖 👏 😂 😮) and leaving.

Improvements

  • Clearer connection errors: when the extension can't reach the MuteDeck app, the popup now says what it tried to connect to and whether the connection was lost or could never be made. Before, the "Last error" was always empty.

Fixes

  • Connection status: the popup no longer keeps showing "Connected to MuteDeck" after the MuteDeck app was closed or the connection dropped.
  • Safari: fixed the extension failing to start on some installs, which left it unable to connect to the MuteDeck app.

Good to know

  • New site permission: to support the personal version of Teams, the extension asks for access to teams.live.com. Your browser may ask you to approve this after updating, and may disable the extension until you do.
  • After updating: reload any meeting tabs that were already open.
